Surprise!!!

We all had a wonderful time when we celebrated Gran Dollie's birthday at our house on Sunday, July 27th! We surprised her with a birthday party complete with family, decorations, a delicious supper, cake, and ice cream! She was completely surprised! (Thank you, Grandaddy!) We were so happy that everyone could come and I was so THANKFUL that they brought food! I've never had so much food in my house!

We love you, Gran Dollie!

Snakes, Snails, & Puppy Dog Tails

I know I haven't been doing a great job of blogging lately, so I thought I'd add a picture so everyone would know we're all still alive! (Although, just barely alive after this episode...)

Look what we found right outside our front door! Brooks was surprised when he discovered this VERY long snake skin in the flower bed by our front steps. I grabbed my phone to snap this picture, sooo excited to finally have something to add to our blog! As I was busy saving and renaming the file on my phone so that I could find it later, Brooks was busy as well. I noticed that it was unusually quiet, so I looked up to see what he was doing. I saw him coming straight towards me with a huge grin on his precious face. "Mama, look what I found," he said proudly. The next moment was one of the scariest moments of my entire life. I screamed at the top of my lungs when I saw a LIVE SNAKE in his hands!!! I was in shock and couldn't speak a single word! Luckily, my screaming scared Brooks enough to make him throw the snake into the bushes! It was horrible! I couldn't even breathe after this! All Brooks and Anna Grace could do was laugh! It really was funny now that we can look back on it and know we lived through it! We had a long lesson about snakes being dangerous and possibly POISONOUS. Boys! What else can I say?!

My Ramblin' Man

No, not Will! Brooks is our little rambler! At the end of the school year I cleaned out my classroom and put all of my things in boxes. The boxes have been sitting in the garage tempting Brooks ever since the end of May. Well, yesterday, Brooks, Anna Grace and I were out in the yard playing. I had the slip-n-slide set up and was even letting them play with the water hose! I thought they were having a great time, but I guess seeing the boxes from school in the garage just got to be too much for Brooks to handle! He has now been through every box of my school things! These pictures show two of his most-prized finds. Don't ask me why I had these wigs at school! I guess I thought I might need them one day. The clown wig was passed down to me from Mom...she used to dress up like a clown when she was the principal at LaGrange Academy to put smiles on everyone's faces! We all loved that! The other wig was part of a Halloween costume I had when I was little. I was a punk-rocker! Can you tell I was a child of the 80's? Brooks had fun going through the boxes from "mama's school", and I had fun myself when he came up to me with these wigs on! I had forgotten all about them until the little rambler pulled them out!
